Just before the bout
I fence and to me the best part of the entire match is just before the two swords collide for the first time. Because it's then when instinct takes and your mind is completely free until one of you pulls away. That moment is like Plato's ideal plane for me, the moment you think about what your doing in combat you're already dead, again.
