Rentown Old Fahion Days
Rentown is brimming with activities. There are people everywhere, as well as long lines of tractors and old steam engines. Why the excitement? It’s the Annual Rentown Old Fashion Days!
Every year Rentown hosts Old Fashion Days. Hundreds of old steam tractors, John Deere’s, and other old fashioned tractors gather together in the neighborhood of Rentown. Some of the many events include a steam show, tractor show, pony rides, horse plowing, and an old fashioned threshing display. Thousands of people show up for a glimpse of the Amish way of life. Delicious food is plentiful, including homeade ice cream!
This is not only for entertainment, but it’s a fundraiser for Rolling Meadows School, a small Amish schoolhouse located in the Rentown neighborhood. “We hope to raise funds for our local school,” said commitee member Pheanis Wickey. The school, like all other Amish schools, is not funded by the government. In response, all the money that is raised by the Old Fashion Days is donated to the school for textbooks and teacher pay. It costs $3 for every person 13 and older.
As you can see, Rentown Old Fashion Days is a great way to spend a day with your family. The diverse activities featured there are sure to bring excitement to everyone who attends.
