The Cleanse
Summary:
Overpopulation has become a major issue and needs to be dealt with. So for the past 67 years, there has been government issued "cleanses" to reduce the surplus population. Robotically modified humans called Agents are released for twelve hours once every year to reduce the population. Every child under the age of fourteen is taken to a bunker and kept safe from the Agents. This year is Kit and her friend Ari's fourteenth birthday, meaning that they are no longer guaranteed protection. But, seeing as they're still in school, and Agents never invade schools, they should be safe, right?
