The Frozen Lake

I hear a loud clatter, and I instantly wake up. I look over to the right, and the frozen lake is cracked. I walk towards the lake, and see my reflection stuck beneath the surface of the ice. I reach out, wishing for it to escape the frozen water, but I remind myself that it is still winter. I speak, but I hear someone else speaking. The pain in my throat increases from trying to make a noise, but the voice of someone else is still heard. Everyday, I look back at the lake, hoping that my voice still isn’t stuck beneath the surface, but the cold weather stays. Days go by, and a new season, spring, arrives. The frozen lake starts to melt, allowing my voice to escape its cage. I meet it, face to face, my voice finally with me.

This set piece is working on symbolism. I like how I used a frozen lake to symbolize feelings.
