Teachers come and go, but some teachers stick with you. Whether they were weird, cool, or mean, you will always remember that one teacher. In eighth grade, my science teacher was a very big part of my eighth grade year. Mrs. Wood was the nicest, most understanding, and the funniest teacher I've ever had! I learned more in my eighth grade science class than I did in my sixth and seventh grade classes. She really made my year memorable.

I remember when Mrs. Wood gave us an experiment once, at the beginning of the year, and she put me in a group of people I didn't particularly like. She observed this and switched me to a different group! That's when I knew that Mrs. Wood and I would have a special relationship. She understood how it was to be a girl in eighth grade and how to deal with the drama. Not that I was in a bunch of drama; I just respected the way she listened and tried to help resolve problems. She cared about all her students, academically and non-academically. If you were failing or not getting a concept, you bet she would be right there to help you get through it and encourage you. She understood us and why someone would be struggling.

One thing I also majorly respected Mrs. Wood for was her humor! Even when she was in a bad mood, she would always find something funny. If I was having a bad day, I normally looked forward to science class to cheer me up. Mrs. Wood was the type of person who thought if you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at? Once, there was a ladybug in our class, but she thought it was a fly, so she tried to kill it. Well, she hit it down, then felt bad for it and named it. The best part was when she had a ceremony for it outside! Most teachers would have left a lady bug in the class and wouldn't have bothered it. But not Mrs. Wood. She always knew how to lighten the mood and get us interested by using humor!

A teacher wouldn't be a teacher if they didn't teach, right? Well Mrs. Wood was the best at looking at confusing concepts at different views that students would understand. Most of the things I remember from her class were little rhymes and songs that she made up to help us remember things. Relating a science topic to something totally different that middle school kids would relate to was something Mrs. Wood did a lot. I would remember them for the test and so would all the other students. She was also very good at preparing her classes for tests and quizzes. She would make a study guide for all of her tests and quizzes that would help a lot. The day before the quiz or test, she would spend that class going over everything. It made me see that Mrs. Wood really wanted to see her students succeed!

Mrs. Wood was like a close family member that I could tell anything to and know it would be kept a secret. She was so helpful with all of my high school choices. I have her to thank for most of my memories at my old school. Mrs. Wood taught so well and understood how it was at our age. She is also the reason I love science! She made it fun and interesting, like you can always learn something new. I will never forget Mrs. Woods generosity, humor, great teaching skills, and love.
