Since 4500 B.C., Humans have been racing horses, but thousands of years later it became known as the “sport of kings”. When people first started moving to America, horse racing became part of the “American Dream”.

Horse racing is based on the ideals of freedom and success. It is a lifestyle in which some people cannot succeed in. It is a lifestyle based on spontaneous events. No one knows anything about anything. No one knows what is to come. One day it could be a great day and you horse might be pulling track records, the next day it could be your horse could break its leg, pulling tendons, or cracking hooves. Its all lived day by day.
This sport is part of the legalized gambling industry. But so is basketball, football, baseball, hockey, and just about any other sport on this planet. A lot of people think it should be illegal because it’s a cause to “gambling addiction”. It may be a gambling addiction but if they illegalized the gambling on horse racing; they would have to also illegalize gambling for other sports. All sports are gambled on. So if people say that it is the cause to gambling addiction, they can turn around and take a look at all the other sports that are also gambled on.
It is said that the race track is the “Grave yard” for horses. Some people think it should be illegal. Some reasons that people might think that horse racing should be illegal is that some people race horses until the horse cant race anymore. Theses are the people that only in it for the money. A lot of people use muscle enhancers and different types of steroids to make the horses perform better. A lot of people think that this is not illegal in the horse racing community, but it really is illegal. All the horses are drug tested before the race and after they race. There is no way around this.
In conclusion horse racing is a very difficult sport to participate in and requires a lot of work and attention. There is also a lot of fight over gambling in the racing world which could be good or bad. And finally racing horses are drug tested and if you are tested positive you will be taken out of the race. Horse racing is a beautiful sport and well recognized and I want to keep it that way.
