Heroism
Heroes in movies are completely different than our everyday heroes. No, Superman or Batman won’t come to the rescue in time of need, but we do have “hidden heroes” living among us. Police men are definitely considered hero’s with all of the life saving that they do. But what about the people who do simple good deeds who get no publicity at all? They are true heroes.
When you spot a person walking down the street what do you think? Do you just think about how they look or where they’re going? Or do you think about who they are? Everyone has a background, where they’ve come from. It’s something that cannot be told just by taking a glance. These people do not wear super outfits nor do they have super powers. They are just everyday people. In fact, you may not even know it.
There was a story on the news where a man had spotted a little girl in the back seat of a car who also looked like the “missing child”. He chased the car on his bike until the car driver stopped and pushed the girl out of his car. This man is a hero. He saved the child’s life. Doing simple tasks as in helping an old lady across the street could also be considered heroism. Making someone safer is the goal of the local hero.
Now there are way better deeds being done that do not get on the news or get publicized. Quite frankly, the acts that do not get publicized are the most important. It is known that the person was not doing good to be on television, but because the person is a true hero. Some people only do something good when the camera is around or when someone can notice. Being noticed is not what makes a hero. It’s the outcome of what they’ve done that makes a hero.
Hero’s are everywhere! Doing something as simple as speaking out when it’s obvious something is wrong is and should be considered heroic. Doing well for the community will not always be publicized, but it doesn't have to be. The best reward is helping another person and making their life easier. Being famous is just another plus to being a great person!
