Years ago skin tight spandex like garments called leggings became very popular and became a better alternative for tights, which are so annoying to wear because they are uncomfortable, and never seem fit right. Leggings are meant to be worn under skirts, short dresses, or long shirts. Both men and women can wear leggings but women are the ones who mostly wear them; I can’t think of a time I have ever seen a man wearing leggings. Next thing you know some lazy people decides they are just going to wear leggings and a regular shirt. Now tons of people just wear leggings as pants; they are not pants they are too tight and look like spandex. What do you do with these people who wear legging inappropriately; you call the Fashion Police at 711.

I have always wondered why so many girls can walk outside with just leggings on? I have worn leggings before but the correct way; and before I cover them up it feels like I am not even wearing any pants. The only reason I can see someone decide not to put something over their leggings could be they are lazy, in a rush, or are those skanky girls who just want to show off their ass. Well, whatever the reason it is not right to be walking around wearing skintight pants; besides how hard or long does it take to put a skirt on or find a longer shirt or dress.

Now like I mentioned girls are the most common culprits of the unlawful wear of leggings so I asked some men what they think of this. The first three guys I talked to are men between the ages of 18-21 so they are in the generation of this fashion fiasco. Two of the men said they didn’t think much of it and they saw it as a comfort thing. Two of the guys said that he did not find it a very attractive look; which made me happy to hear someone agree with me. Then I asked an older man in his mid 50’s what he thought about it and I was not surprised with his answer. This man also agreed that is was not an attractive look and he also surprised me by the first thing he said when I asked what do you think of girls who wear leggings as pants and he said there are many people who say leggings aren’t pants. All the girls who wear legging as pants to look attractive; sorry it is not a very good look.

Now that so many girls wear leggings as pants many stores have made those yoga pants that are skintight; except they might be a little thicker and they are called yoga pants for a reason. Leggings come in so many colors and patterns so of these patterns are super tacky too. In the store Wet Seal for example there is a whole section filled with these crazy pattern leggings with patterns like candy, space, comic strip, and more. I have never seen anyone wearing them but because they still sell them there must be someone buying them.

There are certain guide lines that one should follow when they were legging; hear are the rules:
1.
Legging should be worn under a skirt, dress, or long shirt that goes past your bum. So something that is about 5 to 6 inches below the waist.
2.
Legging can be wore in public if you are exercising or doing something that involves flexible clothing. Like yoga, jogging, spinning, etc.
3.
Wearing just leggings in public is illegal
4.
Punishment is doubled if you wear legging in public and you bend or sit down and people can see your underwear or lack there of.
If you break these rules and the fashion police catch you will have to follow the punishment with the crime. First if you are wearing leggings incorrectly you will be fined $50, second offence you will be fined $100 and will be told to put on pants or cover your ass with a skirt. If you are caught a third time you will have to take a fashion course for a month and pay $150. Don’t forget statement four because if you are pulled over by a fashion police officer and you do have to bend and squat to see if your leggings are see through and they are these fines are doubled.

Fashion guru Carson Kressley "You can wear a cute skirt over it. You can wear a dress over it and tall boots. It's a great way to lengthen the leg.
"You have to remember one thing with leggings—they're not pants!" he says. "Generally, wear something over them, okay?" Even a major fashion icon knows that leggings aren’t pants; so follow the fashion rules. Kressley obviously knows what he is saying so everyone needs to listen.


The Huffington Post wrote an article on the subject called Rihanna, Selena Gomez And More Celebrities Wear Leggings, So Are They Really That Bad? Written by Christiana Anderson where she discusses how leggings are comfy and why so many people have a problem with wearing them in public like I do. The article has a number of pictures of celebrities wearing legging and some are wearing them correctly according to the guidelines I have mentioned while others are not. The article also has a poll asking Are leggings acceptable to wear in public and 78.6% of people say yes they are just tight pants; Oh really tight pants that get stretched and worn out and just look like thicker tights. Then there are my kind of people who see it my way at 21.4% who say No they are too tight and should be worn for exercise or travel. The only thing with these people I think leggings can be worn in public but they just need to cover the crotch and bum area so you don’t look tacky.
The fashion police are people just like you and me so they can be anywhere so legging wears beware. They are usually in clothing stores or walking the beautiful city streets. They don’t have uniforms just the beautiful clothes they wear: so as a hit if you see someone who is extremely fashionable it is probably one of there officers.

In the fashion course that a legging wearer may have to take if they disobey the rules of leggings with teach them how to have proper fashion edict. First, they will learn the proper way to cover up out in public from cleavage to too much butt. They will be taught what colors match or clash and also how to correctly wear patterns. This class could be fun if you care about fashion but anyone who cares about fashion would never break a fashion rule. You will be taught by your fellow Fashion police officers and even may have famous fashion expert come in and scold you for disgracing the fashion industry. This is the consequence for your third offence so it is not going to be an easy or fun course. If you fail the final at the end of the course you will be put into Fashion prison for the number of questions you got wrong. An example would be a failing grade of a 50% and there are 100 questions you would be in prison for 50 days.

In the fashion prison the cells will be covered in extremely tacky color and patterns all over the cell so that the prisoner can get so sick of them that they would never want to think of them again. They will have to retake the fashion course again and hope that they pass or their sentence will just get longer. Depending on their fashion punishment they will have to take part in a therapy to get what they did and make them sick of it. With the legging prisoners they will have to sit down in front of a screen and look at horrifying pictures of people wearing leggings as pants for an hour everyday. This is to make them so bothered with it they will never want to think about wearing them wrong again.

With this new system in place people will no longer have to be disgusted by these girls who don’t know how to wear clothes. All the Fashion Police are ready to hit the streets in March 2014; be sure you are dressed properly before leaving your house. If you care about fashion or the possibility of going to jail my final advise to you is to put on some REAL pants.
