What Fast Food does to the Human Body

When someone is in a rush and looking for a quick bite to eat they usually go to Mcdonalds, Wendy’s, or Burger King for their cheap prices and mouthwatering food. Everyone going to these fast food restaurants know the health risks of eating their food but they don’t seem to care anyway. The food made by fast food places contain a lot of bad ingredients that cause obesity, cardiovascular conditions, and type 2 diabetes. All of these health conditions can cause someone to die just because you ate too many burgers from a fast food restaurant.

The burgers, fries, and all other types of foods these fast food joints serve contain high levels of saturated fat and calories that are the main cause of all of these health conditions. You may pay a couple dollars for a cheeseburger and fries but you are also paying for the effects your heart is getting from the unhealthy food. According to Google maps, “There are close to 50,000 fast food chains across the United States, with McDonalds being the largest restaurant chain. In the world, there are more than 500,000 fast food places.” There are at least 50,000 fast food restaurants in each state. This just goes to show how common these places are and that everyone is exposed to these unhealthy eats. Palo Alto Medical Foundation states that, “Kids between the ages of 6 and 14 eat fast food 157,000,000 times every month. Ninety-six percent of kids in school could recognize an image of Ronald McDonald, the face of McDonalds.” Kids of that age eating that much fast food is the reason why our country is known to be the most overweight country in the world. Kids at a young age are being exposed to the high sugar levels, high calories , and all of the other fats added to their food. “While convenient and economical for a busy lifestyle, fast foods are typically high in calories, fat, saturated fat, sugar, and salt and may put people at risk for becoming overweight” (Johnston). People don’t realize all of the negative effects these foods can have on your body. Becoming overweight can lead to all other types of diseases and illnesses and even death if not fixed immediately. I’m not going to lie but I do enjoy fast food such as Mcdonalds and Taco Bell every once in awhile and it is okay to have it occasionally but once you start eating it 2 or more times a week at that point you might be at the risk of becoming overweight or getting some type illness.

It’s not just Americans who are exposed to these foods, people all over the world are eating these foods and are getting sick from it but for some reason they continue to eat it. Many like the taste of them and their low prices but you are also paying for heart disease and obesity. There are so many other food options around world that are much safer and better for your body than McDonalds and Wendys. The price of the more healthier foods may not be as low as McDonalds but at least you are fueling your body with a much more nutritious meal than the calorie and fat cooked burger at Burger King. Everyone exposing themselves to these fast food restaurants.
