Sure, I may like video games but not everyone does. I personally own two major gaming systems and I don’t see the problem. People may say that video games damage your brain and that video games will make kids less smart, but I don’t buy it. Studies have shown that people who played video games over a period of two months for 30 minutes a day have actually improved their brain regions involved in the functions of spatial navigation, memory formation, strategic planning and fine motor skills of the hands. I in fact think that video games for a short period of time a day could help kids do better in school rather than making them worse in school. I believe video games may help people to further see their future. For example if someone really loves video games they may want to be a video game designer or work for one of the big video game companies like Naughty Dog or Square Enix.

Video games are a way for both kids and adults to have fun in a creative way. Parents may argue that playing video games will rot our brains and that our grades will drop if we do, but I think otherwise. I play video games every weekend and I keep my grades in good shape. Another argument that has come up is that violent video games will lead to aggressive behavior, but I have a lot friends who play videogames and none of them are very aggressive. I play video games that are most likely considered violent and I for one am not very aggressive. So this may be a problem in some cases but not in all of them. “But, as I’ve noted here before, several decades of research on the topic has found no clear evidence linking video games, even notoriously brutal ones like Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto, to outbursts of violence” stated by Susan Perry. Plus not all video games are violent, there are fun sports games like FIFA 14 and racing games such as Need for Speed. So if parents don't want their kids playing violent video games, there are tons of nonviolent video games that they could buy for their children.

Kids will always like video games, so I think parents should have certain restrictions on their kids to playing video games instead of letting them play video games they don't approve of. For example if a child buys a video game that a parent doesn’t approve they should take it away and give it to them later on when they are more mature. Believe me, there are seven year olds playing Call of Duty an M rated game. Sure I play it but I'm not really contradicting myself because I am mature enough to play, not like a seven year old who can barely spell his name.

Parents make excuses so that their kids won't play video games and I think they should let kids play video games even if its with their supervision. Parents don't even have to buy their kids video games or video game systems. Instead of complaining and making excuses I think parents should open their eyes and enforce their opinions with their kids.
