Cell Phones Not Dangerous

Since the first cell phone came out, it has been used by more and more people. You most likely have some sort of cell phone ranging from a flip phone to a smart phone. Cell phones are everywhere you look; if you go to a grocery today you will not go without seeing a cell phone. IPhones, Samsungs, LG’s and many more brands are being used by so many people in today’s world. Today around 90% of adult Americans have cell phones and around 60% have a smart phone. With cell phones, come with a lot of positives but also dangers come with getting a cell phone. You may have heard radiation coming out of phones and also the dangers of driving with the use of a cell phone. Although cell phones may seem dangerous for your health, it is actually not true,cell phones are not dangerous for your health because of several important reasons and also cell phones are dangerous to be used during when a person is driving a vehicle.

Most people have heard about something dangerous that come out of cell phones that can harm your health. Some people think that the radiation coming off of cell phones can cause tumors in your brain and even cause cancer. Another popular topic that it can damage male sperm count since most cell phones are kept in pant pockets. The radiation that is coming off the cell phones is necessary for the cell phone to connect to a tower, so it can send your text, talk on the phone and surf the web. All very important components of having a cell phone do its job. Another problem which is dangerous is the use of cell phones during which a person at the same time is driving a car. Many states in the U.S are banning cell phone use while driving and making people use hand-free devices. A cell phone use when driving is very dangerous for you and the people around you. Also the radiation myths as you may call are not true. The waves coming off the cell phone are just radio waves; these are the same type of waves used to make your radio work and also your microwave make your food warm. How could you say these are dangers if radios and microwaves, which are used every day by most people are being said to be dangerous?

You may have seen a person driving and talking on the phone or even texting while driving. It may seem dangerous and it is. Driving and/or texting is very dangerous as it causes you to be not connected to the road but more on your phone. In a study conducted by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that 25% of all crashes are caused by a distraction of a cellular device by texting or calling. That’s 1 out of 4 accidents happening due to calling or texting. I myself have been in an accident where I was rear ended by a person who was texting and driving and did not stop at a stop sign. This gave me a true experience for why people should not use their phones while driving. Some people may say that calling or texting while driving saves time because some people are very busy. This is very dangerous to do and if that is the case make time so you can check your email or texts. Also another very neat device is a Bluetooth. Although they still have side effects from still being slightly distracted but now you have taken away looking are your phone not the road and also having 2 hands on the steering wheel. Make sure you keep your eyes on the road the screen.

Radiation coming off cell phones has been a very popular topic. Some say that the radiation is dangerous and may cause cancer and other affects that damage your body. These stories are not true. The radiation coming off of cell phones is radio waves. The same waves that make your radio work while driving. A lot of different waves are going through you any time as your computer is working through wifi and your radio is finding a radio tower and you are warming up your food in the microwave to eat. All of these waves go through you as do the waves coming off your cell phone. Cancer is a problem that people think cell phones cause. An study of 358,403 Danish citizens in Oct. 20, 2011 (the largest study of its kind to date ) concluded that "there was no association between tumors of the central nervous system or brain and long term (10 years +). This is huge a research project stating that none of the patients had these problems from using cell phones. According to the NCI, only one in 165 people are diagnosed during the course of a lifetime with a cancer of the brain or nervous system. To put this into perspective, lung cancer is roughly 10 times more common. Also the people are diagnosed with this cancer are mostly not to due cell phone radiation. Scientists for a article about cell phone radiation said,”… the long-term effects are restricted to the current about 15-year span since cell phones proliferated, and they still detected tiny changes in low frequency brain waves with usage, but it's unclear if those had any effect on it.”Also the radiation coming off of radios which were invented in 1890s, still have shown no link to cancer. A bunch of studies have been done and in the end scientists conclude that cell phone are not a danger to people’s brains. These studies state that people have been safe of using cell phones and nothing bad will happen to them.

To text or to talk and drive is dangerous for you and for the people around you. Try to use a hands free deice like a Bluetooth, texting should be stopped and let a side until you get to your destination or if a emergence stop on the side of the road. Please don’t start texting or checking your phone at a red light as that is also illegal. You can you use a cell phone for many reasons to benefit you and you should not worry that your cell phone is harming your body physically, as many studies have shown that nothing happens. Now go out and enjoy talking or texting your friend and even checking your twitter, Facebook or instagram.
