Technology Is Necessary for Human Development
I believe technology is necessary for human development.
I’m not just talking about your new iphone 6 or your super-duper high-speed gaming laptop, there are other technological advances that have heavily benefited the human race. An example of this is the 3D printer, which has made artificial limbs for amputees. It can also make tools and other useful objects that we can benefit from and make our lives more convenient. I feel that making our lives easier is one of the greatest things technology has done for us.
Although I agree humans can rely on technology too much at times, there are also really good things that come out of technological advancement. In the emergency room of a hospital are examples of technological advancements like the heart rate monitor, sphygmomanometers (blood pressure machines), CT and PET scanners, x-ray machines, ultrasound and MRI machines too. Without these machines, humans would have a way less chance at surviving than we do now.
Technology is everywhere, in wars, in our pockets, in our ears, in our homes and in our bodies. People who are blind have a chance at seeing now, the bionic eye, which lets people who are blind see like a hearing aid helps people hear, costing a whoppinig $115,000, this bionic eye won’t have very many users for a while. Also, Amazon Prime has a drone that delivers packages straight to your door! Some of these advancements are for entertainment only, like the Oculus Rift, a virtual reality headset, is one of the biggest things in the gaming industry ever., T.V. companies are boasting about their new 4k display (3840-2160p), twice as much as the 1080p (1920-1080). Google has created a pair of glasses called “Google Glass”, which lets you access google from your voice and eyes. It’s pretty complicated so I would rather not go into detail about it.
Although I did say technology is necessary for human development, it must be used in moderation. Especially the technology made for entertainment. I know some people, including myself, that have been consumed by the technology in their lives. It is one of the most important rules, if not the most important rule, that you do not let technology take over your life. I agree technology will take over the world someday, but we can make it take over in a good way. I f we found a way to make new technology affordable for everyone, we as humans could become way more advanced. This is why I believe technology is necessary for human development.
