Educator of the Year
Remember when you were in high school, and you had that one special teacher or coach? That teacher or coach would just always make you smile every single day.that is how Master Sgt. Howie is to all the cadets in this school. He is the best of the best. He could make someone's day while only just looking at them. When you first meet him at boot camp, he might seem scary at first. I mean he kind of looked scary because he’s 6’7. Once you get to know him, he is very nice and caring. He is a Marine that makes all the cadets smile, and who is always there for me.
Master Sgt. Howie was a Marine in the United States Marine Corps. He is one of the nicest person you would ever meet. Master Sgt. became like my best friend during this school year. I went to DMA to be the best, and I wanted a challenge. I told him I wanted a challenge, and he put obstacles in front of me during the school year. Master Sgt. pushes you because he cares about you and he doesn’t want you to fail. He could wave to you and he would make the cadet’s faces shine like the sun.
Master Sgt. Howie is very protective when it comes to his students. He always tells us stories about the military, and he makes it so interesting. He decided to go to the military after high school. He has been a Marine for about 20 years. He is very protective and caring for all his cadets. I feel like I’m safe in his classroom because you know he cares. All the teachers say that they care, but sometimes they don’t show it.
If you are having a bad day, he is always there for you. He can read your body language if you are happy, sad, or even mad. He is like another family to me. You could never replace him with someone ever have. He is very funny, independent, protective, and caring. He can get at everyone, but than the next day it wouldn’t matter to him. DMA is a very big family, and whenever we get mad at each other, we try to fix it and make it better. We always try to help each other.
Master Sgt. Howie should be the next Teen Ink Educator of the Year. He made this year the best best first year of high school that any cadet could have. He knows when something is serious and when stuff is funny, He is really good at his job. I could write a millions things about him. He definitely belongs with the DMA family. I would like to say thank you so much for your service Master Sgt, Howie.
