No Such Thing as 'More Than Friends'
You hear it all the time. "Are you friends, or... more than friends?" "I love you... as a friend, but not more than that." "Are you looking for friendship, or something more?" The term "more than friends" is used often when referring to crushes or romance. Romance is seen as the most intense form of love. When someone says "I love you!" the first assumption is often that they mean it romantically. I may be too young to truly know what romance is like, but I know I love my friends. My friends are my support system. I am so lucky to have them. I'm terrified of needles and medical stuff, but I would give them blood or a kidney without even hesitating if they ever needed it. The intense platonic love I feel for my friends is not "less" than romantic love. I may not have ever experienced romance for myself, but I have experienced true friendship and I know nothing could ever be "more" than that.
