Was the Ferrari F50 worth it?
In 1995, Ferrari was at one of its lowest points of the decade and had no ideas about where to go or what to make. They are one of the top car manufacturers in the world and needed something to put them back up after the F40 did extraordinary things. Their final decision was to make the Ferrari F50 with a 4.7-liter V12 engine straight out of a Formula 1 car bolted into the back of a luxurious Ferrari. The body is a carbon fiber two-door. The carbon fiber build is something that only one other street car has ever done. This made for a unique look and combined with the rear-wheel drive
But this was too much the feeling of the engine, which essentially created a feeling that the engine was hammering right into your back and just made for the most uncomfortable ride. The F50 had a small cabin to sit in, and the engine was placed right up against the back of your seats. This made it so you felt a lot of power as the engine was running. This was nothing like the F40, which, to most people, looks a lot better than the F50. The F40 Ferrari has sold 1,311 total F40s while only selling 349 F50s. This left Ferrari to lose money and fire the head staff in charge of creating the F50. The successor to the Ferrari F50 was the Ferrari Enzo. The Ferrari Enzo was another way for Ferrari to make up for the losses on the F50 project and to make a car as good as the F40. Ferrari was only able to sell 400 Enzos, but this was still an increase. The Ferrari F50 represented the pinnacle of Ferrari's all-time performance.
