Horror

There are many people in the world that find enjoyment in a little horror every now and then. Even if it is a little jump scare, or just the nerve racking feeling that there is an unknown beast somewhere trying to hunt down the characters in a movie, book, or video game. I am going to talk about the horror in movies, books, and games and how they have their own different ways of making us terrified.

First I will talk about horror in movies. One of the scariest things that horror movies do differently than books and video games is the amount of detail they have in the sets. They can look so real in the movie, but on the film set it is actually just like painted wood or a green screen. The movies are really good at suspense and jump scares that will give you chills down your spine. The characters in a movie could just be walking down a dark hallway, and then out of nowhere a figure that we can barely see snatches up one of the characters and turns them into a nice meal. My favorite part is the build up throughout the movie that keeps us wondering what the beast is, until we get to a big reveal at the end of the film.

Next I will be talking about the horror in books. I love the horror in books because you can really imagine the scene and the scariness of the situation. When you are reading a horror book you have so much more free will for what the setting looks like. You can imagine what the characters will be like, what the monster will look like. You can imagine basically anything in the book. Books really put your imagination at work and that is the great thing about them.

The final thing I am going to talk about is horror in video games. This is my favorite type of horror. I love this type of horror because when you are playing as the character you feel like you are actually there in the moment. This is probably the most terrifying type of horror because the jump scares can come out of nowhere and they are a lot more scary when you are playing. Another thing that makes it tarifying is the creepy, but perfectly timed ambiance. You could be waking down a dark hallway and all of a sudden you hear a snarl behind you or a loud knock on a door. These elements lead to a terrifying experience.

In a nutshell, horror has a lot of different ways to be experienced. From people who like watching the characters and their terrifying journeys, to the people that like to play as the characters, there is a type of horror for every one.
