Fire Hydrant
She stands proud and tall trying to keep the loneliness away.
She pushes and shoves it away,
But only for so long.
Soon it comes swiping in,
Like the sea’s tidal waves.
It knocks her back and takes her under.
She is engulfed in loneliness it controls her now.
She is now part of what makes everyone lonely.
She has fought the loneliness,
But only so long.
You can only fight loneliness so long before it takes you over.
You can only fight the disease for so long before you die.
She is infected with loneliness,
And now she is dead.
Loneliness has killed her.
