Ode to Beauty
Beauty, she has big eyes, plump
Pink lips, a curvy body, a nice
Round butt, and long silky black
Hair. She makes me feel insecure
About myself, yet I love the way
It feels to be beautiful. Formal
Events, family events, or any type
Of party, it feels good to stand out.
All the eyes on you, while you’re
Just minding your own. But do these
Stares mean you’re beautiful or do
You look out of place.
Sorry I don’t have big eyes. Sorry I
Don’t have a nice round butt and a
Curvy figure. Sorry I don’t have
Teeth as straight and white as the ones
In the toothpaste commercials. Forgive
Me if I don’t look like her. I shouldn’t
Have to meet up to her standards though.
I’m unique and I shouldn’t have to be
Someone else in order to be beautiful.
If you’ve ever felt like you weren’t
Beautiful or “good” enough, ignore that.
You’re beautiful in your own ways, inside
And out. You don’t have to be someone
Else, change yourself, or even meet
Someone else’s standards. You are
Perfect just the way you are.
