Ode to December
You make cold mornings. You bring winds that
fight against me everyday. I look outside and there
you are, waiting for the right moment to show what you got.
You know I don’t Really like you. You bundle me in clothes
that make me a walking Marshmallow. You cut my cheeks
like glass with your cold breathes. The only thing I actually
like about you is that you bring families Together. It’s Christmas
now and you can smell the fresh made pie Cooling down and
you can hear the little ones running around the house. You make
people run across the street trying to get away from the heavy tears
that come down. You cry because you weren’t invited. They heat
up their homes to keep your icy cold air out. I almost feel bad for you.
You come once a year to bring Christmas and joy to others
but there’s no one to bring you joy. Your time is running out.
It’s your last day here,The thirty first. You walk away slowly
and bump into January and give her a weak smile. You tell her
that the people are now ready for her and the New year.
The clock turns twelve and you start to disappear ready to come
Back in a year to bring more joy to the world.
