The Bridge

The Cloud may cross The Bridge.
The Cloud who cares for her children,
Who provides nourishment,
The Cloud who depletes herself of her rain
In order to help her children, knowing,
That her children will return it to her.
The Cloud who cares,
Merely,
Because she wants to.
Because she loves.
Yes,
The Cloud may cross The Bridge.

The Ants may cross The Bridge.
Though there are many,
The Ants are fair.
They know their duties;
To their leader,
To each other,
And to themselves.
They do what needs to be done
Without hesitation,
And at the best cost.
And when something goes wrong,
They are all to blame, not
Just one.
The Ants know this.
Yes,
The Ants may cross The Bridge.

But the Elephant,
No.
The Elephant may not cross The Bridge.
The Elephant who knows he is bigger,
And boasts of it.
The Elephant who mocks the gentleness of the Cloud,
And takes more than he needs from her.
The Elephant who steals from the Ants,
Though he has no reason.
Because,
When the Elephant tries to cross The Bridge,
The Bridge will not hold him like it did
For the Cloud,
The Ants.
And the Elephant,
Who thinks he knows what is best,
Will forever have to wonder
What is on the other side of
The Bridge.

This is supposed to be symbolic about how being a hard worker and caring for others will get you farther in life than thinking that you know what's best for everyone.
