Another Dissapointment

over
tumbling waters
through
perilous caves
past
serene meadows
far
far
away.
i went.
i sought.
i proclaimed
my eternal love for you.
with tears i left.
with an empty heart.
a broken youth i was.
my entire trek had been
futile
pointless
a waste of my time.
you made it clear
there was no room.
for one more
in the chambers of your heart.
over
tumbling waters
through
perilous caves
past
serene meadows
back home i traveled.
unscathed
but so scathed
by yet another disappointment.
