Wings
He told me I could fly
And I,
In the innocence of youth,
Believed him.
He told me I had wings -
Wings that no one else could see
Except him
And I believed him.
He told me that we’d fly away
Away from the world
That disowned us
And didn’t care about us
And I believed him.
He told me that one day,
He would marry me
And show the world that
I was beautiful
And I believed him.
And then he left
And I was alone,
A chick without wings
And found myself
Falling
Into reality.
And then I realized
I do not have wings.
