remorseful gods
the cadence of rain rippling
on the grey streets below
soothes with its soft staccato sound,
broken here and there
by a splash as a carefree child
plays in the puddles
the gods are letting loose their tears,
mourning the loss of their power over me,
as i lose all of my fears, am washing away
with the pitter-patter of rain drops on pavement
into blissful emotional oblivion
after all, ever since the sunny day
your soothing smile was engulfed
in the voracious fires set by
the human hand of god,
i have had nothing left to lose.
