ribbon
This is an identity I’ll never yield
The ribbon of my persona laced up into a perfect bow
I no longer have time for their whispers
Or laughs behind my back
My fear is hidden behind all the ruffles and lace
I’ll never let them know that their words affect me
But at home without my armor, everything will collapse
I've learned to always keep this distance
Hiding my feelings between folds of fabric
Can I reach you like this?
Or will this space only grow
Is it true you want me to let you in?
Would you accept how I really am
I doubt it
