Mistress of the Moon
An irrelevant man gazes up at the sky
His eyes are searching for his lady of the moon
She's peacefully sitting, so out of reach and up high
He was grateful for her her presence, a blessing to his eye
The man listens closely as the lady sings a tune
Enamored and lovesick, he watched with ease
Her song so sweet, she sang directly to his heart
He swooned and smiled, as languid as the breeze
So devoted to his lady, anything to appease
He’d take, and he’d give, so they'd never be apart
The lady floated farther, the moon grew dim
Where was she going? Why wouldn't she stay?
She can't leave him!
His soul grew dark, angry and grimm
The man felt his heart crumble, and wither away
Through his piercing pain, he watched her go
He called out to her, with a cry and scream
His breathing stuttered and his heart beat slow
The man agonized for her, body falling limp and low
But she would not respond, for she was only a dream

This is a poem I wrote with Robert Frost's rhyming pattern in mind. I hope everyone enjoys this!
