I’m going to tell you a story,
And listen hard,
Life isn’t about glory,
Or living large,
Smoking is a pleasure,
But it’s not a need,
It won’t feed your family,
It won’t support the team.
Life is a gift,
And it’s given at no price,
Don’t see a woman- don’t get enticed,
Your wife is at home,
She’s waiting, all alone,
Someday, she’ll take her pride,
And she’ll grab a knife,
Don’t see a woman- don’t get enticed,
Happiness comes at a very expansive price,
And maybe you’ll learn to treat it right.

I’m going to tell you a story,
And moreover your books,
However long and boring,
You won’t soon notice the time it took.
See a pretty face,
And wait in line,
Ignore the time it takes,
Lose track of time.
Life is a dancer,
And she’s beautiful at first,
She looks like the answer,
Until you look and look,
She leads you astray,
And she brings you away,
Finally you suffocate,
Lose track of the days.
Ticking clocks and swirling hawks,
Remember the faces that are gone away,
Don’t forget all the things they’d say,
You might not go their way, you might not be, you might not stay,
You’re not like them,
Just a man of men,
Not that easily condemned.
Life bends and breaks,
But it’s all about the life you’ve made,
It can’t be tamed,
It’s not a game,
It’s you who chose to bear the shame.
