The paper is smooth with no marks,
Its perfection is adored,
The naivety of what is to come,
An aging soul is a used page,
The paper is rough and marked,
Preserving the remaining beauty,
The future brings worry,
An old soul is a ruined page,
The paper creased and folded,
Torn, tattered, and despised,
Envious of the past,
Our souls are a page,
Our papery skin is vulnerable to change,
We attempt preservation,
As we fear the inevitable wrinkle.
