The Ghost in Us
This house is a
home for many
the taps on the walls
speak with codes
it's the two of us
The ghost in us-
the sounds over thousands
of whispers
below six feet
they raise the energy
causing lights to flicker
Our home shakes-
they call us by name
a framed photograph of Abuela
shatters on the wooden floor
stairs creak
and the wind howls outside
as the moon gets brighter
We tilt our heads to
the noise above
running past the hallway
mirror
And we’ve all died here
the last ghosts
in our home.
