Aimless feet
Passing time, along the feeder-way.
Just another one of those routine days.
Guy walking on the side-walk, never took a break.
Me, just wondering, where he was headed to, today.
Cuz I keep driving and pass him along.
In my air-conditioned car singing to my favorite song.
I think about the man with no where to go, then turn up the commerical for my favorite show.
But where is he going, really, that walk.
He must have been out for hours, block after block.
Ashamed is he? Or just getting by.
As I tug on my clothes to loosen my tie.
Just turning the corner, down my street.
I wonder the pain he must have in his feet.
But most of all, where did he sleep tonight?
What did he eat? I thought from work, that I was beat. But what about that man, walking aimlessly on his feet. All I ever worry about, each and every day. Is how long it will take to get home, and what's the very best way. But now I think to myself, I'm glad to have a home. And thankful to not take up the worries of walking aimlessly alone.
