October Rain
Vibrant autumn colors
Leaves crunching beneath my feet.
The cool, clear air tousles my hair so gently
As I make my way towards the lonely tree.
Momma's country music fades away in the background,
Going, going, gone.
Chills down my arms on this fall day
As I make my way towards the lonely tree.
Crunch, crack, click
The leaves sing and shout and dance about.
I smile at my backyard, so full of life
As I make my way towards the lonely tree.
A trickle of tear, from the swirling blue sky
Rain makes its way down, but still being shy.
It comes in little shards, merely a prickle on my skin;
As I make my way towards the lonely tree.
Plop! I sit down, on the small seat of a stump.
I gaze up in the sky, now the raindrops are plump!
Smack! On my face, but I don't mind
I've made my way towards the lonely tree, and standing ever so still...is time.
