Who is Anyone?
And who are they,
To stride so purposefully upon the land
To take the wooden mallet to hand
And drive to the ground the pyrite stake?
What isn’t one’s is not one’s to take.
And who are you,
To take up axe and gun to wield,
To fight with these for the right in the weald
To harvest what you did not grow?
Ignorance only impedes the flow.
And who are we,
To prophesy on that which is above our head,
Then strike forth and on unlaid paths tread,
Without intent of being waylaid?
Assumptions may leave us sorely dismayed.
And who am I,
To allege, learning notwithstanding,
That this all falls within my understanding?
For all things not of the flesh of men
Cannot be guided by their standards then.
