Slipped from Sight
The day was bright,
The lake was calm.
I looked up into the light,
Then down into my palm.
There were no lights,
I fell asleep,
Until finally out of sight
A fish pulled on my line.
Tugging the line,
I wish I was stronger.
I thought I was fine,
But the line wasn’t longer.
I cried out in pain
As the line broke.
In panicked strain
I dove down to fight the hoak.
I grabbed my broke line,
And hold it tight.
I thought the fish was mine,
Alas it slipped from sight.
