Why must we fight?
The colors revealed, pitch black on pure white
Clouds flying over empty skies in the night
Dew under canopies in a tropical desert
Grass creeping through ice in a sudden growth spurt
You’d say it’s upside-down, but to me it’s my life
Divergence ignites a continual strife
As darkness arrives, as the moon sets
No child sleeps while the world around frets
Children lose their youth too soon
While wars of intolerance spread like typhoons
Facing horrors no one should face
Asking, “Where is God’s saving grace?”
Where is the innocence we once revered?
Now led by ignorance, held by fear
Caught in the standstill of what’s not yet forgiven
Not forgotten ‘til change, for what we have striven
