A Mid-June Classic
Crooked shadows and green grass
Memories from the summers past.
Please don't ever go away,
All I want is for you to stay
Look how our lives go by so fast.
I am talking to my ghost.
He tells me everything he knows.
I am trying my very best,
But times like these require rest.
You just won't let my eyes close.
I am staring at the sky.
I see the birds, I want to fly.
I hope I never leave this place.
Let grass grow around my face.
Until my soul becomes fossilized.
The rain will wash away my bones.
And all the memories my mind could hold
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
Why am I scared if in God we trust?
I've never felt so cold.
This mid-June classic, the green green grass
Look how our lives go by so fast.
