End of the Beginning
Papers rustling
A hundred voices around you
Saying nothing
Your computer screen
Glaring in your eyes
You hear no one
And no one hears you.
At the end of the day you go home
And try to remember what you did today
But those things you recall
Can’t be right
Because those are memories
From years ago
You laugh
Thinking the end
Is the perfect time to think about tomorrow,
Not yesterday.
If only things worked like you thought—
Like that equation you’ve made
Out of your life.
