Why does death have to be so sad?
When someone you love
Leaves this sorrow for eternity
Trades it in for the world above

Why does death have to be so sad?
It surely shouldn't be
That I forget about their happiness
And only think of me

Why does death have to be so sad?
When you're only eleven
It seems like a tragedy
When your grandma goes to heaven

We should rejoice!
Let's scream! Let's shout!
Happiness is what it's all about!

But somehow beneath the mirage of peace
The tears and tragedy will never cease
So even when it doesn't show
Everyone in the world knows

That death is, and always will be, sad.

A couple years ago, my grandma died in June. Then my grandpa died in December. Then in March my aunt got hit by a car and lived for two years before she died. Poetry is a nice way of getting all of these feelings out.
