Afraid
I’m afraid that one day
Kids won’t go out to play
Because the earth is dead,
Gone from our heads.
I’m afraid that trees will die
Smog will blacken up the sky
Because we didn’t care enough
To do what was tough.
I’m afraid that there won’t be any animals
And humans will be cannibals
Because we hunted to much
The world felt our deadly touch.
I’m afraid that the earth will dry up,
There won’t be water for one cup
Because we were wasteful
And our actions weren’t hateful.
I’m afraid because it seems that no one is trying
To keep our planet from dying,
Even though all of the signs are here,
From global warming to endangered deer.
