We Lurk in Shadows

We lurk in shadow so serene,
But put under the light who are we?
What is revealed that none have known
Once our true colors have been shown?
Are we in truth a fluffy cloud
Or are we a bottled-up frustration spoken loud?
Are we a mountain piled high
Or are we a bright star fallen from the sky?
Who are we when the lights are off?
Where do we run to when the going gets tough?
What do we do when the rain pours down?
Do we float above or do we drown?
