Half of Me
Half of me
is far away,
far away from here
The other half
lives a lonely life,
overrun by fear
Half of me
wishes on every star
twinkling in the sky
The other half
scoffs at such things,
preoccupied with life
Half of me
is laughing
a my best friend's joke
The other half
is yearning
for the town I once called home
Half of me
is left behind,
Still trapped in my past
The other half
is sprinting on,
not daring to look back
So what is one to do
when her life
has jumped the tracks
and the only thing
she really wants
is the life that she once had

Does it get more true than this? Not really. I know exactly what you're talking about. I think you speak to other people's emotions very well when you write.
*Hehe! I get honorable mention in this poem!!
