Human Heart
Curled in a bone-white claw
Lays a human heart to thaw
Plum-bruised purples and blushing reds
It lays outside our ribs instead
With cigarette burns
Slashing broken liquor glass
Seared piercing blackened holes
A broken heart may last no more
Let all the bruises learn to bleed
Leave the cuts and holes unstitched
Once a threaded patchwork heart
May forever keep falling apart
Seal it up
Wield it shut
Turn it over
A brand new cut
Drain it's blood, every ounce
Let it turn to stone
And lob it into the great unknown
Another detached heart unowned
