Shadow of a Memory
I can almost see it. There it goes again, flitting this way then that again. Did you see it…could you see what it was? Dancing teasingly on the edge of my mind. Just letting me know it is there, seeming to go here and there without so much as the slightest care. I try to follow, to get a better look, but it keeps slipping away, when I’m almost there. But from what I can see, I think its familiar, and as I try to follow this shadow of a thought, another one passes and I can see it just out of the corner of my eye. Maybe I can catch this one, keep up better….this thought won’t escape me. But it does…so elusively slipping away from me. So I sit alone in the middle of my mind, contemplating these things I almost remember from a time long since passed. And though these memories are mine, I cant seem to recall them back to me. All these things that seem to me like a dream I almost remember.
