All that I see
All that I see
Are the things I don't have
As I look at the world
Through my beryl glasses
The bliss of my friends
Digs a hole in chest
That consumes all the good
And spews out all the bad
Even the roses
Are egregious today
All thorns and no petals
With their sickly sweet scent
So rank and mephitic
It offends the nose.
No, I don't think I'll stop
To smell them today.
As I skim over lines
Of my scripted existence
I wonder how different
My life could become
If instead I saw rose-
Tinted rather than beryl.
