What Did I Miss?
Has something changed -
Are truths uncovered?
Regrets suffered from,
Faults discovered?
Have apologies been given,
Stories been clarified,
Errors been recognized,
Loyalties been verified?
Have the tangles been straightened
Within the web we all helped to weave
From the gossip and anger,
And the lies we believed?
Has the Present become the Past -
"That was then, this is now"?
But if this has occurred,
I want to know how!
How can one rip out a soul,
Then smack it back in place,
With no trace, hate dissolved -
And a smile on their face.
If there's nothing remaining,
Was it pointless to feel?
Empty threats, no grudges -
As if it were never real.
Somehow forgotten,
But not quite fixed.
I guess that's just how life goes;
There was nothing I missed.
