i see the tear drops on the floor
and wonder
how they got there.
my chest hurts and can not tell why.
my heart throbs
i try to think, but can't.
as i retrace my footsteps
i see a picture of you
next to me.
it all becomes clear.
the image is vivid in my mind.
your footsteps descend
i hear the echo of the slamming door.
my hand tries to grasp the presence
that is in your direction.
but the horrid emotion within me
pushes my hand away.
hurt and alone is how i feel
so i rest my aching body
hoping i don't die of sorrow
i see tears drops on the floor

how they got there
