Without a Safety Net
We’ve always been close
Ever since I can remember
I know exactly who she is
At least that’s what I though
Something has changed
I can see it in her eyes
She’s lost
And I can’t seem to find her
She’s only having fun
Or so she says
But she’s forgetting what she believes in
She’s giving up on who she is
She thinks she’s indestructible
She can’t see it yet
But she’s falling
And she’s going down fast
When she hits the ground
She’ll be a mess
With her cuts and bruises
But I’ll be there to pick her up
I always am
Eventually the cuts will turn into scars
And stay as reminders
That the higher up you think you are
The further you have to fall
