Love's Coma
There was no barrier at the start,
No protection against emotional destruction,
Bleeding hearts or swollen eyes,
Just an innocent shield that would inevitably be obliterated.
Mind racing, hands trembling
On the outside of a smiling heart.
Images appear as nothing but a jumbled mess,
Indistinguishable to the retina.
Time passes full of this exhilarating frenzy
Feeling just like a couple of seconds.
Until it ends in a blink of an eye,
And you’re left in a chilled unforgiving world,
Just trying to recall the time that passed.
