Slow Dancing
You are my anchor:
You hold me down with your eyes
While my heart balloons to the sky.
You are my beat:
My heart slows to match the pulse against my cheek
As we sway out of rhythm.
You are my shelter:
Your warm hands gently squeeze my shoulders,
Pressing me closer to you.
You are my miracle:
You hum a small song in my ear
That reverberates in your chest.
You are my guide:
We rock back and forth to a tune we don’t know
But can still dance to.
You are so much to me
And, yet, you are nothing,
Because you are only a daydream.
