No Visitors at This Time MAG
Long hallways filled with artificial light burn my tired eyes
The smell of high-grade Formica fills the hospital
Long uncomfortable hours, waiting, hoping, but knowing
Bad news, but the machines said he was getting better
Watching them work on his lifeless body
Keeping him alive for the next few minutes
Everyone destroyed, barely able to cope with themselves for the moment
Tears on leather
Alone
“No Visitors At This Time,” give me the sign, memory on my door
Too many faces, too many people, too much emotion
Escape through the Doors playing in the background
Nice choice of music, my choice
The preacher rambles on, fumbling up the words, lets go
Into the ground you go, bro, “See you on the other side”
I’ll pick the stone, your new front for eternity
The lake and your bike, but I chose the cattails, so symbolic
I go and wash the stone every day, water the grass, think of you
You taught me everything, brother
How to live, have fun, take care and survive
You taught me to do good, and be true
How to cope with living, to get along with parents and siblings
You taught me all about life, dear brother
And in your final lesson, you taught me all about death
