Corrupted White
I see the tones and shadowed lights
The ghostly bright and lively dark
All intertwined in one large art
Which truly shows the painter’s might.
The trees they blur with godly life
Every detail thin yet smudged
And through this moss the white lights trudge
Cutting through with a knife.
Orpheus he pulls his bride
From the light into the dark
For in this painting white does mark
The place where shadow demons hide.
Into the forest lush with promise
With dark strong tones of comfort shade
This is how the painting’s made
A place where white is not honest.
Back beyond, shrouded in mist
We see grey figures, light and far
They stand away, like shadows that mar
The gentle dark still does persist.
Though Orpheus is capped in dark lush tones
His bride still wears her nuptial whites
Those hues, which do not signal light
Will take possession of her bones.
Into the deep she will descend
Where she will wait, the patient bride
Who wears the colors that hide
The power she could not transcend.
Orpheus will walk alone
The shadowed Earth where safety lies
Talented but not very wise
Now Orpheus will walk alone.
