What is Love?
It comes fast; it comes slow; it comes in waves.
It starts out nicely but soon makes us its slaves.
It’s as powerful as a tsunami,
And attacks us with its strong little army.
It makes us smile and red in the face;
It is demanding yet has some quiet grace.
It makes us cry; makes our hearts feel the pain;
It makes our tears come down fast like the rain.
It makes us feel valuable and warm inside.
It makes us forget and toss all else aside.
It demands of us all our attention;
Without it, we feel like we cannot function.
It makes us hope and wish on shooting stars,
We’d do anything, even go behind bars.
Only for it we’ll do these crazy things,
We want the true thing, not just a fling.
When alone, we think of it in great awe,
We want it perfect, without a single flaw.
It tugs our lips up and makes our eyes bright,
When they come near, our hearts go in a fast flight.
Nothing else makes us feel this exact way,
When it is gone, it makes our days sad and gray.
It swoops in low and lovely like a dove
We feel like we know it, but what is love?
